Synopsis:

At the height of British colonial rule in Alexandria (Egypt), two sisters,Raya and Sakina, go up against living in a man’s world and catapult from rags-to-riches by running a string of profitable “Gentleman’s Clubs” and attracting the best and worst of Egypt’s ruling class including British army officers, vagrants and the Alexiandrianaristocracy. Pitted against a merciless patriarchal system, the sisters go far fast by involving Al Futtuwa, an underground league of gentlemen that ran most of the  businesses behind the scenes. But when a string of suspicious deaths and disappearances would  trail the sisters as they spiral into their eventual demise, they end up in prison and up for capital punishment which was unprecedented for women at the time. The “Alexandria Killings” is the first instalment in the planned true Arab Crime Anthology series.
